Overview
Prior to attending law school Mark was the administrator of Sage Nursing Home in Milwaukee Wisconsin. The nursing facility was a 465 bed skilled care facility. At the time Mark was a non-lawyer member of the National Healthcare Lawyers. He left the nursing home business to go to law school in San Francisco. He joined the tax department at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in 1989 as a member of the employee benefits group. He became the head of the tax department from 2000 through the firm’s closure in 2002. He joined Morgan Lewis as a partner in the employee benefits group in 2002 and in 2007 joined DLA Piper as a partner in its employee benefit group.
Mark has always practiced in employee benefits. His concentration is fiduciary and operational compliance as well as design of both qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans. He has successfully represented clients before the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor. Mark has been recognized as a California Super Lawyer over 20 years.
